An essential accompaniment to good health.

Accompagnement Bénévole de l’Ouest, more commonly known as ABOVAS, was founded in December of 2007 to fulfill its primary mission

– Helping vulnerable residents who require accompanied-transport get to their vital medical appointments.

While offering the best possible service, this non-profit organization aims to go further by targeting these objectives:

– Being attentive to needs

– Developing bonds of trust and friendship

– Improving quality of life in the West Island

IN NUMBERS

Since 2007:

2,173 clients

15,315 accompanied-transports

359,588 km traveled = 98 times the distance between Montreal and Vancouver

Nearly 800 hospitals and clinics served on the Island of Montreal

Currently:

2,647 accompanied-transports

79% of users age 70 and over

50 accompanied-transports per week on average

A service which relies on the dedicated support of its 58 volunteers

76% of beneficiaries are female
